ACUPUNCTURE FOR COLIC

Acupuncture for biliary colic and renal colic is recommended for reducing pain and spasms.

Several clinical studies have shown acupuncture to perform better than standard drug treatment (intramuscular injection of atropine, pethidine, anisodamine, bucinnazine or bucinperazine, or a metamizole-camylofin combination). Results showed that acupuncture brings greater pain relief in a faster response time, plus without any side-effects.

Acupuncture for gallstones is also beneficial. Studies have shown it can improve the secretion of bile, relieve colicky pain, and can also aid the expulsion of the stones by way of encouraging the energy flow to flush the stones through the system.

Acupuncture for abdominal colic e.g. acute gastroenteritis or gastrointestinal spasm has also been trialled and found to be successful.
