ACUPUNCTURE FOR SPRAIN INJURY AND POST-OPERATIVE PAIN

Acupuncture for traumas such as sprain and sports injuries is recommended for pain relief and bears no risk of drug dependence. Acupuncture for sprains also hastens recovery by improving circulation in the area.

Acupuncture analgesia for postoperative pain is well recognised and has been confirmed in clinical controlled research. As a result of acupuncture's success in relieving post-tonsillectomy pain, a full tonsillectomy was the first successful operation under which the patient received acupuncture analgesia. Furthermore, acupuncture showed fast relief of throat pain, a reduction in salivation and promotion of healing in the operated wound. This shows how acupuncture can be an effective treatment for the various problems associated after operations and surgery for which little or no treatment is given via orthodox and standard therapy.
