Acupuncture for Hypotension
Acupuncture is a successful treatment for primary hypotension (low blood pressure) and essential hypertension (high blood pressure). For primary hypotension in particular, acupuncture has been found to be more effective than general tonics.

Acupuncture for (Essential) Hypertension
For mild and moderate essential hypertension (high blood pressure), studies have shown that acupuncture's effect of lowering blood pressure is as powerful as standard therapeutic agents; hence, as acupuncture can also relieve the symptoms, plus without side-effects, it can be a preferable alternative to standard treatment.

Acupuncture for Heart Disease
Clinical studies have shown very favourable results in acupuncture for heart disorders, particularly for cardiac neurosis and angina pectoris. Studies have shown specifically, how acupuncture works: by improving the working capacity of the heart. Further studies have shown the dilation of the coronary artery during acupuncture and this effect to be similar to that observed during intracatheter injection of isosorbide dinitrate, a standard therapy. For coronary heart disease, clinical studies have shown acupuncture's beneficial effect on left ventricular function, more effective than nifedipine and isosorbide dinitrate drug therapy.
